Day 1

When you arrive in the Town of St. Stephen on your first morning, make sure you stop for breakfast at Carman’s Diner. Trust us, your belly will thank you for it. After breakfast time to work off some calories by heading to the Garcelon Civic Center. Workout in the fitness center, go  skating (Ice available in August) or take a few laps on the walking track.

Now that your blood is pumping, you’ll need to relax a little. Walk across the street and check out the newly renovated wharf. Wave hi to the our friends in Calais and don’t forget to take your picture in front of the lighthouse. It’ll be lunch time now so head to Pizza Delight for tasty meal while still being able to take in the St. Croix/Skutik river view.

Now with your belly full, continue down the waterfront trail taking in the river views until you hit Something’s Brewing to load up on some caffeine! After your coffee stop, take in the unique shops that St. Stephen has to offer downtown. From Candy Creations, Spree, Element 506, Harper’s Exotic Pets and more, our front street has tons to offer.

Day 2

Once you are up in the morning and have enjoyed your breakfast, hop in the car and take the 10 minute drive to Ganong Nature Park. Explore the trails, visit the beach area and make sure to share pictures of you on top of Simpsons Hill. We know you’ll have worked up an appetite so have a late lunch Oak Bay Snack and Diary Bar. 

This afternoon you’ll head back in to town and explore all the beautiful parks we have in St. Stephen. First, you’ll check out our bandstand in Milltown directly beside our tennis courts. Bring your racket and have a game! Next you’ll head just down the road where you choose to go for a swim at the W.T. Booth Centennial Pool, visit Salmon Falls Park or the Cotton Mill Worker’s Memorial. These three attractions are all within walking distance so there’s no reason why you can’t do all three.

The Milltown bandstand is a jewel of the Milltown community where many outdoor concerts and events are hosted. The two tennis courts just behind the bandstand offer a get recreational activity for residents and visitors.

St. Stephen’s outdoor pool is the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day, and it’s free to visit! The main body of the pool is a 15m wide by 25m long lap portion, with a connected shallow beach entry section that includes three different splash features and a water slide leading into the larger lap portion of the pool.

Dover Hill Park is one of St. Stephen’s most photographed beauty spots. Located on Milltown Boulevard, the park is just a stone’s throw from the border crossing. The views of the St. Croix river been the backdrop for many wedding and graduation pictures—our floral displays and trails are maintained throughout the year and are the envy of many communities. In the summer, take the trail down to the river’s edge, where you can enjoy our urban oasis at the picnic tables and gazebo—and hit the toboggan hill in the winter! There’s no doubt, Dover Hill Park is one of St. Stephen’s gems.

David Alison Ganong Chocolate Park is located in the heart of St. Stephen. Young and old can relax and cool off on those hot Summer days in our splash pad, the kids can burn off some energy on our huge new playground, and then as the temperature drops in the evening, you can stay for one of our Summer concerts in the Chocolate Park bandstand. 

Next head back towards downtown, but before head down the hill stop at Dover Hill Park. Dover Hill is known by locals as the spot for prom, engagement and wedding photos so make sure you take advantage of the beautiful scenery and grab a few pictures. Once you’ve grabbed some memories head back to downtown and stop at the David Alison Ganong Chocolate Park. Relax by the Gazebo, check out the plaque commemorating our 150th anniversary time capsule or if you have kids with you let them run through our Splash Pad or play on the playground.

Before you head to dinner, we think dessert should come first! Grab an ice cream cone from a local favourite Mr. Scoops. Don’t give yourself brain freeze, there’s plenty of time to enjoy that sweet treat before heading to Diner 81 for your evening meal. Don’t head back to your bed just yet, hop across the road to Dooly’s for a game of pool and a drink.
